Cordycep Health Benefits

Cordyceps (Cordyceps militaris) Mushrooms

Cordyceps are parasitic fungi that show no mercy—they invade their host’s tissue until it takes over completely, sprouting long, slender stems that grow outward from the host’s body.

There are over 400 known species of Cordyceps, but Cordyceps sinensis and Cordyceps militaris are the most studied for their health benefits. At Sporgy, we use Cordyceps militaris in our Mush Love Sun Tea, as well as our Myco-Dose® Powdered Blend, Energy and Boost Extract—so you can experience its benefits in both liquid and powdered form.

Energy Support

Cordyceps are believed to increase the body’s production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the molecule that delivers energy to muscles. This improves the way the body uses oxygen, particularly during exercise. This is why Traditional Chinese Medicine has long used Cordyceps to reduce fatigue, enhance endurance, and even boost libido.

Antioxidant & Anti-Tumor

Cordyceps are rich in antioxidants, giving them strong anti-aging potential. In lab studies, Cordyceps have been shown to slow the growth of multiple cancer cell types, including lung, colon, skin, and liver cancers.

They may also help reverse side effects from cancer treatments, including leukopenia (a dangerous reduction in white blood cells that weakens the immune system).

Diabetes Support

Cordyceps contain a unique type of sugar that mimics the action of insulin, helping to regulate blood sugar. By supporting glucose transport into cells, they may help people with diabetes maintain more stable blood sugar levels—without the unwanted side effects often linked to conventional diabetic drugs.

Heart Health

Cordyceps are traditionally used to treat arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat). Studies also show they can lower LDL “bad” cholesterol and triglycerides, reducing risk factors for heart disease.

Anti-Inflammatory Benefits

Research shows that Cordyceps can suppress proteins that trigger inflammation, helping to calm the body’s inflammatory response. This makes them a powerful ally for overall wellness and heart health.

Why We Love Cordyceps

Cordyceps bring together energy, resilience, and protection in one mushroom. Whether supporting athletic performance, heart health, or blood sugar balance, this fungi remains one of the most versatile tools in the functional mushroom world.

That’s why we’ve included them across our Myco-Dose® line of extracts and our new Powdered Extract Blend, so you can enjoy consistent, daily doses backed by research.
